Nowadays Land acquisition bill is a trendy and one of the most controversial topic of discussion in India .Every news channel is discussing about it , and every opposition party is criticising it . Are these parties really standing with farmers or their support is just for the sake of their political benefits . let's have a view over the land acquisition bill .
LAND ACQUISITION IN INDIA
Land acquisiton means the acquisition of land by the central or state government of India for various development projects like infrastructures , power projects , dams etc.
Land acquisition is governed by The Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013, which came into force from 1 January 2014. Land acquisition in India was governed by Land Acquisition Act of 1894 till 2013. On 31 December 2014, the new government NDA 2 in India passed an ordinance with an official mandate to "meet the twin objectives of farmer welfare; along with expeditiously meeting the strategic and developmental needs of the country". The government passed Land Acquisition Amendment Bill in Lok Sabha on 10 March 2015 .
This bill is creating a lot of controversies . The main cause of these controversies is that the land owners are not getting their desirable prices for their land . They want the govt. to give them the market price of their land ,but the govt. is paying according to the already set standards and norms. The farmers all over the India are also against this bill. As this bill is not in their favour . They have the complaints that govt. takes their land and in exchange either they give land with less fertility or very low prices . Moreover there is a huge area illeagally used by the farmers for many decades . And this bill can take that all land back from the farmers . And none of the farmer will feel happy in donating the land which is being used by them from the time of their great grand parents .One issue in India is that the records of land holding cannot be easily verified. This opens the possibility of disputes after purchase. Industrial enterprises use this fact to argue that the government should acquire land on their behalf.India is a country of emotions and feelings. And no one prefers to shift from their native place to other place . But due to various projects they have to shift .
