OYE LUCKYwent UNLUCKY

Abhay Deol is considered as the one of the most talented actor currently working in the  Hindi film industry . He deserves a title of superstar ,but this 'oye lucky' went a little bit  unlucky too  many times .
His first movie was Socha Na Tha  . The movie released in 2005 and was directed by Imtiaz Ali .
Movie was good but not the excellent one. But it didn't get that response ,which was expected.
In 2006 his movie Ahista Ahista released ,co-starring Soha Ali Khan. The movie was good but failed to make an impression on the box office window . His third movie released in 2007 ,  Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd.. the movie was critically acclaimed as well as it was a big commercial success. But being  a multi starrer movie it didn't added much to his career. His next movie of 2007 was Ek Chalees Ki Last local . the movie which changed his image . The movie did an average business on box office but was a great critics hit . After this movie he played the lead in Manorama : six feet under . The movie  won the Best Film at the Mahindra Indo-American Arts Council Film Festival in New York City. He also won Best Actor award for his role for the same. though the movie failed at box office ticket window.
His next movie was  Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! which was expected to do a great business but was hit  by the 26/11 attacks on Mumbai. But then too it managed to do an impressive business at box office and also it was a big DVD hit. The next year was too lucky for the lucky as he appeared in Dev D. The movie was highly acclaimed by the critics all over. It was the biggest commercial success for Abhay Deol . He was highlighted as the future superstar in the most of the news papers . He was also working on some other movies , one of them was Junction ,which never went on the floors.
After the success of Dev D he decided to try his luck as a producer . He named his production house as Forbidden Motion Pictures (but later he changed the name) He started working on a movie titled Basra with Navdeep Singh but again the movie didn't get a kickstart.
In 2010 he appeared in an item number in Tera kya hoga johny , which went unnoticed due to no buzz of the movie.  lr he  appeared in Road, Movie . Which was an art movie and went unnoticed.  later in the same year, he appeared in Aisha movie  co- starring Sonam kapoor . There were many conflicts  between Abhay and the producer Anil Kapoor . Abhay opted out of the movie promotions . The movie did below average business at box office.
2011 was a great year for him . He was one of the lead among the three leads in the movie. The movie did a Fantastic business of around 100 CR. worldwide. The domestic collections were 87 cr. It was also appreciated by the critics.
Then he signed a movie named Shaadi Of The Dead , which was supposed to be the first zombie movie of the bollywood . later the name of the movie was changed to Rock The shaadi . Abhay himself had suggested the new name . 40% of the shooting was completed but due to the over budgeting of movie Ekta Kapoor(producer) almost opted out of the movie.
Abhay was also offered the main lead opposite to Sonam Kapoor by Raj Kumar Santoshi , but the things didn't went cool. Abhay opted out due to the delay in the movie.
In 2012 ,he appeared in two movies Shanghai & Chakravyuh . Both the movies were avg. at the box office but were critical hits .Shanghai did a good business as compared to its budget. Abhay's acting was appreciated by everyone.
In 2013 he appeared in Raanjhanaa . He played special role in this emotional romantic drama. The movie was a big hit and his performance was loved by everyone.
Then he appeared in a Hollywood venture The Lovers ( earlier it was named Singularity) along with Bipasha basu . The movie didn't get screens due to poor production management .

In 2014 he acted as well as produced the movie One By Two . The movie was a flop . the main reason behind the failure of this project was Abhay's conflict with the music company T series. T series wanted the singers to sign some contract with their company but singers were not feeling comfortable in signing the contract . Abhay took the side of the singers , which created distances between them. As a protest , Abhay was spotted supporting a black eye in 20th star screen awards .But it all was in vain and due to no chartbusters in addition to weak script the movie failed to create much buzz and failed.
All these cases shows how big name he could have earn if all of his movies had got normal releases or good production houses.
But still its not over for him . He has a long way to go . Currently he is busy in the projects like Happy Bhaag jayegi  , Snafu and also an indo chinese project 'Gold Struck' ,co starring alongwith Amitabh Bachchan, Jacky Chaing and Jacqueline Fernandez. Hope now his luck will be brighter ..and everything with him is going to be alright.

best of luck Abhay for your future projects.
